It’s 2013 and once again we find ourselves getting ready for another exciting year of fishing on the Kenai Peninsula. The 2013 forecasts for sockeye salmon is for above average returns and that is expected to be followed by excellent numbers of silvers too. While the king salmon forecast is reminiscent of previous seasons it’s still too early to tell what will eventually unfold.
If the forecasts are correct, and they have been pretty close in the past few seasons if not underestimating the numbers, come on down to the Kenai and you will not be disappointed. 2013 Kenai Fishing Report will keep you notified on how the season is doing in 2013.
Halibut fishing is also a strong attraction in Cook Inlet. Locations like Ninilchik, Homer and Seward are already producing some decent early fishing. By memorial day, fishing on the Kenai is expected to get pretty hot as the King salmon and halibut are entering the area in strength. Memorial weekend fishing trips are popular with Alaskan’s for halibut in Ninilchik and Homer while it’s Soldotna that really heats up for the King salmon fishing.
